CT Kosher Food Insecurity Study Webinar & Results Now Available

In our Spring 2026 newsletter, we shared preliminary results from our statewide kosher food insecurity study conducted with Rosov Consulting. On May 28, JFS hosted a virtual Lunch & Learn to explore the findings and their impact on Connecticut’s Jewish community. The webinar recording, presentation, and full report are now available here.
The study confirmed that food insecurity affects many of our neighbors. Among more than 400 survey respondents, 1 in 4 experienced low or marginal food security, and 15% reported running out of food before they could afford more. Cost, convenience, and availability emerged as the biggest barriers to accessing kosher food, with Russian-speaking households, families with children, older adults, and people with disabilities facing the greatest challenges.
These findings are already helping JFS strengthen advocacy, expand partnerships, and improve access to affordable, culturally appropriate kosher food. Thank you to everyone who participated in the study and joined the conversation.
