MEET OUR CLINICAL TEAM

Aimee Hass, LCSW

Director of Behavioral Health Services

Prior to leading the team at JFS, Aimee worked with children, adolescents, and families in the Intensive In-Home Children and Adolescent Psychiatric Services Program (IICAPS) for 8 years. She received her training from UCONN’s School of Social Work, and she has experience working with diverse populations utilizing a variety of modalities, including crisis and safety assessments, and trauma.

As a therapist, Aimee uses a strengths-based approach to empower clients and families. She has 5 years of supervisory experience, where she creates a safe and healthy work environment for staff to grow in.

Jonathan Covault, MD

Consulting Psychiatrist, Adults

Dr. Covault is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience. He earned his MD from the University of Iowa and completed his training at UConn and the Institute of Living. He has worked at UConn Health in clinical, teaching, and research roles.

At JFS, he reviews and manages medications using evidence-based care. He works with each person to find the best path forward, often alongside therapy, healthy habits, and support.

Kara Zablotsky, LCSW

Clinical Operations Supervisor

Kara brings over a decade of clinical social work experience to her role. She supports the clinical director in overseeing day-to-day operations, supervises the clinic’s therapists, and manages intake and caseload coordination. She also maintains a small caseload of her own clients, keeping her grounded in the clinical work that drew her to this field.

Kara earned her MSW from Simmons College in 2011 and began her career working with children and families, specializing in trauma treatment across community-based, outpatient, and residential settings. Her clinical focus has since evolved to supporting aging adults through grief, loss, and life transitions, bringing compassion and deep expertise to this important stage of life.

Outside the clinic, Kara enjoys making pottery, hiking, and spending time with her family and dog.

Luciano Abbatemarco, LCSW

Individual and Family Counseling, Children & Families

Lu has more than 15 years of experience as a counselor. He has worked at the Institute of Living and with Casey Family Services in post-adoption care. He also served briefly as a Clinical Coordinator for the State of Connecticut before returning to direct care.

Lu enjoys working with children and is deeply committed to his work. He earned his MSW from UConn after starting his career as a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant.

Svetlana Berlinsky, LCSW

Russian Adult and Senior Counseling

Svetlana was educated in both the U.S. and Russia and has more than 30 years of experience in mental health. She has worked with many different people and concerns.

At JFS, she supports Russian- and English-speaking clients as they move through life’s changes. She enjoys reading and collecting antique lace.

Anna Cabrera, LMSW

Community Mental Health Clinician

Anna has worked across a range of settings including outpatient behavioral health, hospital-based care, and community agencies. She has supported individuals and families navigating anxiety, complex medical conditions, and life transitions. She has collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure thoughtful, holistic care. She has also worked within child welfare systems, helping families strengthen relationships and move toward stability and long-term well-being.

Anna facilitates parent participation using the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) model. In addition, she is a certified Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid facilitator who empowers communities to better understand and respond to mental health needs.

Anna takes a warm, collaborative, strengths-based approach to her work. She values creating a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported while also gently encouraging growth and new perspectives.

Morgan DeCarlo, LMSW

Child and Adolescent Therapist

Morgan works with adolescents and their families. She has experience as a school social worker in a behavioral setting and is trained in Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT).

Morgan uses a strengths-based, culturally informed approach to support growth and change.

Angela Ehrenwerth, LMSW

Clinician

Individual and Family Counseling, Children & Families

Angela works with children, teens, adults, and seniors. She has experience in community mental health, schools, and special education settings. She supports children and teens with learning and developmental needs, as well as their families.

Angela uses a strengths-based, person-centered approach. She listens closely and helps clients find tools to manage stress and move forward with confidence.

Mary Beth Lang, LCSW

Individual Counseling, Child and Adult

Mary Beth brings more than 40 years of experience to JFS. She has worked in inpatient, residential, outpatient, and crisis settings. She supports adults, children, and families, including individuals with developmental disabilities. She enjoys working with parents to better understand and support their children. She also focuses on grief and loss.

Mary Beth uses a kind, non-judgmental approach and helps clients build practical skills for daily life.

Nancy Lichtenberg, LCSW

Adult and Couple Counseling

Nancy has more than 30 years of experience and has worked at JFS for over 20 years. She supports individuals and couples with emotional, relationship, and family concerns. Her style is open, direct, and collaborative.

Nancy works with adults of all ages and is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS). She also helps co-parents navigate divorce and separation.

Jonas Steiner, LCSW

Adult and Senior Counseling

Jonas has 40 years of experience in social services. He works with young adults, older adults, and seniors.

His focus includes anxiety, depression, grief, and loss. Jonas uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and a client-centered approach.

He co-leads a memory loss group and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner.

Zoey Walker, APRN PMHNP-BC

Child Psychiatric APRN

Zoey believes care works best as a partnership. She brings medical knowledge, and clients bring their lived experience. Together, they create a plan that fits each person’s needs.

Zoey provides medication management, mental health assessments, and brief supportive care. She works with clients in a safe, private, and inclusive space.

Kimberly Whittingham, LPC

Child, Adolescent, and Family Therapy

Kim works with children, teens, and families. She provides individual, family, and parenting therapy. She has more than 15 years of experience in residential and outpatient settings. Kim leads the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) team at JFS. She creates a safe, supportive space and uses a non-judgmental, strengths-based approach.
