Older Adults Counseling
The emotional needs of older adults are different than those of younger and middle age adults.
The highly regarded Jewish Family Services Older Adults Counseling Program offers individual counseling to individuals and couples over 60 experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, evolving relationships, life transitions, and loneliness. Participants in older adult therapy are often able to reduce their symptoms, feel supported, and engage more fully in their lives.
Information on Area Resources
In addition, the program provides information on area resources for older adults and their family members. Program staff give presentations on issues impacting older adults at local senior centers and senior housing communities.
To explore whether older adult counseling is right for you or for more information, please email or call Jewish Family Services at (860) 236-1927.
Early Memory Loss
In partnership with Hebrew Senior Care, we offer support for people over 60 experiencing cognitive impairment and early memory loss. Participants learn how to navigate the complex emotions associated with memory loss and gain insight and clarity by talking about their experiences with memory loss.
The Early Memory Loss Support Group is led by a professional therapist. It meets twice a month, on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 at JFS in West Hartford. Please email or call Jonas Steiner at (860) 236-1927, extension 7095 for more information.
