A Message from our CEO

Living Our Values
At Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford (JFS), our work is rooted in connection: between people, between needs and resources, and between our values and our daily actions. Every day, we have the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate life’s challenges and opportunities.
JFS was founded more than 100 years ago on Jewish values, and today, we serve people of all backgrounds and from all walks of life in Hartford County. Our work continues to be guided by the universal values of dignity, integrity, community, fairness, and excellence.
These values are not just ideas we aspire to; they are principles we practice in every interaction, every service, and every decision we make.
As social worker Brené Brown reminds us, values can be aspirational — what we hope to be — but they must also be practiced in how we show up each day. At JFS, we are committed to closing that gap by delivering compassionate, high-quality care that reflects the values we hold.
You will see how these values come to life through our programs and services: in moments of crisis met with steady support, in opportunities for growth and resilience, and in the trust our community places in us.
We invite you to explore our stories, learn more about our work, and see how JFS supports our neighbors across Greater Hartford. You may recognize your own experiences in the stories we share. If you or someone you love could benefit from our services, we are here for you.
If our mission resonates with you, we also welcome your partnership, whether through volunteering, giving, or simply helping us spread the word.
At JFS, everyone is welcome. Our vision is a community where every person has a path to stability, well-being, and belonging. That vision includes you.
Thank you for being here.
